A shutter-down and wheel-jam strike was observed in major cities and town of Balochisan on Thursday as part of a protest called by the Baloch Salvation Front (BSF) against the illegal occupation of Eastern Part of Balochistan by Pakistan on 27, 1948.
The strike was backed by Baloch National Voice, BNM (Shaheed Ghulam Mohammad) and other pro freedom parties.
According to BSF statement the strike was observed in Quetta, Kalat, Surab, Machh, Noshki, Mongchar, Zehri, Khuzdar, Wadh, Naal, Besima, Kharan, Dalbandin, Hub, Panjgur, Zamuran, Buleda, Thump, Mand, Pasi, Gwadar, Kech district and other townships of Balochistan where trade and business activities came to a standstill and shops and offices remained closed for the day.
The BSF in a statement thanked the business owners for their cooperation to make the protest call successful. The statement further read: “The co-operation of business community shows that the Baloch nation detests occupation and they reject Pakistan’s illegal and forced invasion on Baloch land.”
The BSF said Baloch nation is united on their one point demand of freedom and they are struggling to preserve their national identity and regain their freedom.
According to BSF’s statement Balochistan existed on the map of world as a sovereign state before 1948 but the artificial and unnatural state of Pakistan occupied Balochistan on 27 March 1948 and violated Balochistan’s regional and geographical borders.
“The military invasion of Balochistan is in violation of international laws and UN conventions and it is disappointing that UN and the international community are playing role of a silent spectator on state barbarism against Balochistan,” the BSF said.
The BSF urged the United Nations and the International Community to break their silence and support the Baloch freedom struggle in a similar fashion as they did in South Sudan and Darfur.
